Cutter Suction Dredger

In 2007 one of the leading dredging contractors in the world, Jan De Nul, ordered four large self-propelled cutter dredgers, named IBN Battuta, Zheng He, Fernão de Magalhães and Niccolò Machiavelli.

Basic design Detail design

These dredgers where designed using the latest technology and innovation and are employable worldwide. Insights from the owners’ long-term experience with their existing dredgers have also been incorporated in this design. Special features include: ladder turning points at two positions, three dredge pumps, moveable bow for auxiliary spud, anchor booms and a barge loading system at both sides. Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam has continued its relationship with Jan De Nul by preparing the major part of the basic design of the dredger in close cooperation with the owners.
